Arrival around 00:30

Brugge station: getting to Bruges old town after midnight

We could not confirm the last bus times for October, so do not plan a late arrival around buses 1 and 2. The taxi stand outside the station is the dependable late option, and fares are higher at night than by day. The walk is short, about 25 minutes, and is realistic late in the evening only if you travel light and know the way. Check the De Lijn planner if you want the bus.

Every option in detail

On foot

Walk to the Markt

  • €0
  • 25 min
  • 24 hours
  • → Markt

Visit Bruges puts the walk from the station to the Markt at about 20 minutes. With a suitcase, allow 25, because the streets near the centre are cobbled and slow to roll over. It is the cheapest and, in good weather, the easiest way into town, but it is not ideal in rain or with large cases.

Bus

De Lijn bus 1 or 2

  • €3
  • 20 min
  • → 't Zand, Sint-Salvatorskathedraal, then a short walk to the Markt

Buses 1 and 2 run between the station and the old town about every 5 minutes. Both stop at 't Zand and near Sint-Salvatorskathedraal, and the Markt is a few minutes' walk from either. Pay by contactless card on the bus, or buy a ticket at the Lijnwinkel, a ticket machine or a pre-sale point. A single costs 3 euros and gives 60 minutes of travel with transfers. We could not confirm first and last bus times for October, so check the De Lijn planner on the day.

Taxi

Taxi

  • €9–€14 per vehicle (estimate)
  • 10 min
  • 24 hours
  • → Door to door, your hotel

Taxis queue outside the station, and there is no published fixed price for this short ride. We estimate 9 to 14 euros to the Markt, which is an estimate, and prices rise at night and at weekends. Parts of the old town are closed to cars, so the driver may drop you at the edge and you walk the last 100 metres or so.
