Arrival around 00:30

Napoli Centrale station: getting to central Naples and the port after midnight

At 00:30 on Sunday to Thursday the metro has stopped, because the last train leaves Centro Direzionale at 23:00. On Friday and Saturday nights it runs until about 01:32, but ANM warns that the corridor to the port exit at Municipio closes at 22:00. The airport buses have a last departure from Piazza Garibaldi at 23:50, but the Garibaldi to port timetable is not listed. The taxi rank outside the station is the simple answer, and the fixed fare of 15.50 euros to Piazza Municipio already includes the night supplement.

Every option in detail

Metro

Metro line 1

  • €1.50
  • 30 min
  • 06:15–23:00
  • → Municipio, about 300 m from Molo Beverello

Follow the signs to Metro Linea 1 from the concourse and the underpass beneath Piazza Garibaldi. The trip to Municipio takes about 8 minutes, and you walk across Piazza Municipio to the ferry piers. A single costs 1.50 euros and is sold at the machines in the station. ANM lists the first train at 06:15 and the last at 23:00 from Centro Direzionale from Sunday to Thursday, and about 01:32 on Friday and Saturday. Stairs and long corridors make it hard with large cases.

Bus

Alibus

  • €5
  • 35 min
  • → Immacolatella and Molo Beverello, by the Stazione Marittima

The Alibus is the airport bus, but it also serves the port and takes about 20 minutes from Piazza Garibaldi. A single is 5 euros, sold at the machines, by the app or by contactless card at the validator, and it cannot be replaced with a normal city pass. It costs three times the metro, but the bus is easier with luggage because there are no stairs. ANM lists the airport and port timetables, not the Garibaldi to port departures, so check the posted times at the stop.

On foot

Walk

  • €0
  • 40 min
  • 24 hours
  • → Piazza Municipio, then Molo Beverello

Corso Umberto I runs in a straight line from Piazza Garibaldi to Piazza Municipio, about 35 to 40 minutes on foot. It is flat and wide, but the first stretch near the station is busy and the pavements are uneven. The historic centre starts about halfway, so the walk makes sense for a hotel in the old town and a light bag. For a ferry with a fixed departure time, the metro or a taxi is safer.

Taxi

Official taxi

  • €15.50 per vehicle
  • 25 min
  • 24 hours
  • → Piazza Municipio, Molo Beverello, the port

The city tariff sets 15.50 euros per taxi from Napoli Centrale to the port, Molo Beverello or Piazza Municipio. It includes luggage, night and holiday supplements. The other fixed fares are 11 euros to the ZTL historic centre and 17.50 euros to Via Partenope and the hotels at San Ferdinando. Ask for the tariffa predeterminata before you set off, and ask for a receipt. Motorway tolls and the 5 euro minivan supplement for more than four passengers are extra.
